About Spencer

With great community pride and spirit, the Village of Spencer enjoys a traditional, country lifestyle. Spencer is conveniently located in central Wisconsin at the intersection of state highways 13 and 98. Wisconsin’s major east-west highways, STH 29 and US 10, are within 15 minutes by car and provide easy access to Eau Claire, Wausau and Stevens Point. While centrally situated within short distances of north-central Wisconsin’s major cities, Spencer is a growing community that thrives on its country roots.

Spencer is served primarily by two colleges. The southwest campus of Northcentral Technical College, located in Spencer, works actively with local businesses and industries to help train employees. NTC’s main campus is in Wausau, 50 miles away. Spencer’s residents and businesses may also pursue training and education at the University of Wisconsin-Extension, a 2 year college in Marshfield, 8 miles south of Spencer.

Spencer and its surroundings offer a variety of recreation activities, ranging from outdoor sports to arts entertainment. The area provides excellent opportunities for hunting and fishing. In winter, snowmobiling and skiing are popular. Snowmobile enthusiasts are able to choose from more than 900 miles of snowmobile trails in Marathon County. Rib Mountain, 50 miles away, attracts downhill skiers, and the region has many scenic trails for cross-country skiers.

In addition to sports, our community enjoys the arts. Spencer is the proud home of the Lucille Tack Center for the Arts, which hosts performances by regional and well-known entertainers.
